Time for the next stage!

2018 is going to be a very special year for me. As some of you know, I am in 8th grade and I will be starting High School next year. This will be an enormous change for me since I have been going to the same school since I was in Kindergarten. I am applying to a magnet school for violin and communications. I have also applied to a private school.

In my head, I thought the process of auditioning for the magnet school would be easy. But, I soon learned that I needed to practice if I wanted a fighting chance of getting in. I have never practiced one violin song for such a long time. Up until the day before, whenever I had nothing to do, my mom told me to practice the song. I was starting to hear it in my sleep! For my communications audition, I had to deliver a speech about a current communication trend, write a storyboard along with analyzing a photo, and write a creative story. I must have practiced my speech a thousand times!

Both auditions took a lot of hard work and perseverance, but I know it will pay off in the end. With communications, I could learn to be a better speaker and writer so I could inspire hope in more kids, especially those with disabilities. I am hoping the teachers at the magnet school would help me become a better writer. I decided to audition for violin for two reasons. First is that I have another opportunity to get into the magnet school and second, my teacher is moving away and I can still continue to play violin and play concerts. I have gone to see their orchestra play in concerts. They sound more like a professional symphony than a high school band. Many family friends say both are phenomenal choices.

The auditions are over, and I only have to wait another 47 days until I find out whether I get into the magnet school. With any luck, I will find out about the private school in fewer than 47 days. Good luck to me and please send positive thoughts my way!
